"Entwined Emotions" Reviews

Behind The Veil (Greece)
Atmosphere. Strong, katatonic, dark atmosphere. That's the first think that comes to your mind, when you listen to Lifend. An amazing combination of anger and sorrow, hatred and regret. I was once again positively surprised by he high quality of the underground bands. This band from Italy will remind you bands like HAGGARD and DARK TRANQUILLITY ("The Gallery" period). Beautiful chanting female vocals, atmospheric keyboards and haunting growls. Italy has, after all, a worth to be mentioned extreme metal scene. Let the stage lights shine...
The only negative thing is that this demo has only 4 songs...Very few for me... I would like to listen to some more songs from this band!

Melodic black gothic Metal with good female vocals covers "Entwined Emotions." pretty complete. Is it good? It is that good actually. Yes, the female vocalist did a good job here, trading off parts with the male wonderfully and clever tonal changes to suit the atmospheres within. The female singer utilizes her voice to the most possible potential. And the arrangements are something to get excited about too. The keys, synths blends well with the others. The music hovers between Tristania and Dimmu Borgir, confirming their tag as a melodic black gothic Metal band. Nice job by these Italians.

Music on "Entwined Emotions" is pleasing to the ear[…]This music is not keep in one style, here we have a lots of melody and in the same time dynamics and sharp claw of metal. Lifend style I can call death/doom/gothic but here we can find more elements from different styles. […]. Both singers complemnt one another making cool "dialogues" very often bulding on contrast rule.[…].Lifend music have two faces one is romantic, subdued and gentle, second is more dark, furious and brutal. I dont have doubts that music from "Entwinted Emotions" is metal. Sometimes music is very impetous, in a way she is made to softly and smoothly going to subdued parts, full of great atmosphere, which give time to reflection. Songs have an average of 7 minutes, but are not boring and music flow very fast on. To recapitulate i think Lifend deserve on attention, they have recorded good stuff and created intrigue, atmosphere and an interesting arrange of music

[…]What most called my attention of their music is the feminine voice of a sad goddess which together with the molody submerges me in what is dismal.[…] Now their songs are a perfect point in the middle of the melodic and the black sound specially by the two masculine voices. This is the beginning of the end of life.

Gothic is a strange genre: rich of influences (firts of all, Black), has became famous just in these years by acts like Tristania and, in the italian scene, Macbeth. Good band now to add to these big names are Lifend, another italian band that share all the gothic features: two singers, a male and a female, using of instruments not always played like piano and strings, and a Black-style drumming.[…]. The growl male parts are few (excellent the clean parts!). Arrangements are very good and the tracks, even if of long durability, are never boring.
So a big hail to Lifend, new italian Gothic band, not far from success...

This young Italian act managed to blend gothic atmosphere and traditional aggression of Death Metal in its debut Mcd. I believe that this band will be found appealing by GRAVEWORM and MYSTIC CIRCLE fans. As for me, I enjoyed "Entwined Emotions" as well despite the fact that I dislike the aforementioned acts. Rating: 8/10

Brutalism (Germany)
This italian band […] plays a mixture of death and gothic metal but with different shades like black metal paths, female vocals, violin and atmospheric parts. Most of the vocals are done by Sara and this gives a romantic touch to the songs. There are enough different parts in the songs, so you will enjoy some passages in case you don't like the whole songs. Def a band to keep an eye on in there next release.

[…]The four songs on this demo are catchy, with nice changes[…]. Positive features are the un-average, slightly cruel female vocals, some good guitar-riffs, the fragments of clean male vocals, and the previously mentioned structure of the songs. And also, even the little old violins and cello's on this recording are "real". The music has something of a dirge, what makes it a bit different somehow.[…]

The Sins of Thy Beloved. Mejor Tema: "This Cold Life" Vote: 9,5

A magnificent keyboard introduction leads us into the world of the music of Lifend. This is an italian ban thart makes a music that we can call death/black/gothic metal[…]. Their music is heavy and extremely dark and melodic at the same time. And they rely heavily on the use of keyboards (Davide is great in making all the melodies tha make so special their music) that contrast with the crushing guitars (who also make sad melodies in the vein of early My Dying Bride). One thing that I would like to remark is the great combination of vocals...there are two types of male vocals (one more gothic and the other more death/black metal) and also a female vocalist called Sara who has a really personal vocal style and adds a great contrast to the music. I can define Lifend´s mnusi as Light and Darkness, that is full of contrasts between the instruments and the voices. A great first step for this band. I hope to listen more of their music in the future.

Atlantida (Lithuania) 4 tracks, more than 27 minutes. Melodic metal. Mixture between death and gothic metal! Even some parts of black metal! Male and female vocals. Female vocals are similar to THE GATHERING vocalist voice! Good record quality. These days in Italy emerged many interesting bands...

Lifend is an Italian Death Gothic Metal band and something of Doom that began to capture me from the beginning of the first song [...] To change the clean vocals, so much masculine as those of Sara, they are very well executed and they go with the style that the band interprets... another point to rescue is the excellent keyboards and good arrangements in all the songs; are the 4 songs that conform the CD good, but the one that more I liked it was ' This cold life'... of the best, especially for the bottom violins and do the female vocals give it at the same time a dark, beautiful and aching atmosphere, in some parts they are mingled the female and masculine vocals so much giving originality to the song.[…]To conclude I will say that with a little more than effort this band can arrive very far... a possible promise for the italian metal scene!

Production.
